What $1.5M Buys You in Calgary Right Now

August 20, 2026 · 6 min read · By Walter Saccomani & Harry Z. Levy

One and a half million dollars opens nearly every door in Calgary — but what it buys varies enormously by community.

In the inner city — Altadore, South Calgary, Killarney — expect a modern luxury infill: roughly 2,500–3,200 square feet, designer finishes, and a walkable location near Marda Loop or 17th Avenue. In established estate communities like Elbow Park or Britannia, the same budget typically buys a renovated character home on a mature lot, or a original-condition home with tremendous upside.

Head west to Aspen Woods or Springbank Hill and the budget stretches further: newer estate homes of 3,500+ square feet, triple garages, and mountain views. In Pump Hill, $1.5M is often the entry point for large lots backing onto green space.

The right answer depends on how you live. We help buyers compare communities honestly — commute, schools, lot size, and resale trajectory — before falling in love with a kitchen. Browse the live MLS search on our homepage to see what's available today.
